Schwartz Family Favourites - Spaghetti Bolognese | AD

Thomas’ favourite dinner in the world is Spaghetti Bolognese, and because we are both often busy, and getting in from work late or at different times, we are constantly looking for ways to speed up dinner, but maintain the taste and flavour.

The Schwartz Authentic Spaghetti Bolognese Sauce Mix makes the process of cooking super quick and easy for those nights when everything is going wrong, and you need a quick dinner that won’t take too much bother!

At only 85p a sachet here, it means you can keep the cost down too – an all-round winner. Despite the low price point, it is packed with flavour, and left a very happy Tom!

The other ingredients required are –

-      450g Extra Lean Beef Mince – we went to our local butchers of course!
-      A tin of chopped tomatoes
-      A whole onion
-      And 275g of spaghetti – we opted for whole grain!
-      You can also add in Mushrooms, but the look I received when suggesting this warned me not to…
Method -
1. Brown mince and onion for 4-5 minutes. Add mushrooms (if you are) and fry for 1-2 minutes.  Drain excess liquid.
2. Stir in sachet contents and tomatoes. Bring to the boil, stirring.
3. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.   Stir in cooked spaghetti.
4. Serve topped with Parmesan cheese.
Looking for a different way to serve?
Schwartz suggest spooning the Bolognese mixture into halved red peppers. Sprinkle with cheese and bake for 35 minutes or until the peppers are soft and the cheese golden. Serve with garlic bread.

A bonus of this is that you also get 2 of you 5-a-day, meaning that you are still getting your veg in whilst enjoying a tasty meal. This serves four, making it the perfect family meal, or if there’s only two of you like us, then you get leftovers for lunch the next day!

The joys of a spaghetti bolognese is that you can also leave it simmering whilst you finish up the other parts/ set the table/ argue over who's doing the washing up etc...

All in all, it took me 20-25 minutes from start to finish, and not very much attention! We added some garlic bread, and a sprinkle of parmesan and presto – a flavoursome dish that left empty plates, and saved the expensive bill from a restaurant!

What's your favourite go to meal?

This is a paid for collaboration with Schwartz, but all views and opinions are my own.
