Secret Buys...

I've recently said 'I'm happy with my make-up', which was a big mistake!! Because I'm now not allowed to buy anything, so the other day, I stumbled into Boots with a friend, and had a brainwave - I have £12 of boots points!!! So it's not officially buying anything - right?

I've had my eye on a few new lipsticks lately, and I've been steering myself away from MAC and Chanel, because it's a lot of money for something I shouldn't be buying. I instantly went to the Rimmel section, as I have a Kate for Rimmel one already, and have had a fancy for another, as they are so long lasting, and the colours are gorgeous.

I picked up
Kate for Rimmel -101
Moisture Renew - 200
Rimmel Lash Accelerator

I love the colours of both of the lipsticks, and I was suprised that I chose the Moisture Renew because it's very bold for me as I normally go for a nude lip, hence the Kate in 101. The lasting power of these is incredible! I applied one at 6.30am the other morning, and when I returned at 6 it was still perfectly intact, going through eating and drinking. I also love the mascara, this was actually free when you spend £10, and this is instantly one of my favourite drug store mascaras. It gives so much volume and length and for the small price tag it's so worth it!

Real Techniques Duo Fibre Collection

I recently announced to Tom, that I was actually happy with my collection of make-up etc at the moment and would stop buying things! Then Cohorted announced these brushes...

I've wanted these for so long because I already own a 'lot' of the other collections, and wanted to give this ones a go as they look so fluffy and soft in the box, and I managed to get them down from £23.99 to £13.60!

First things first, presentation wise, these are by far my favourite, the packaging just looks so sleek and professional, and it makes all the difference! I also love that every real techniques brush is coloured according by the use of the product, for example with the bronze ones being for the base etc, and even though they have made the decision to mark these White to add to the prestige, they have kept with the traditional code through the naming of the brushes, as you can see in the picture below.

In terms of effect etc, I wasn't expecting to like them very much, as I think that they feel a bit more synthetic compared to the rest of the brushes, but I actually love the finish that these give! One thing I would say is that they pick up a lot more product than standard brushes, so be very wary with highly pigmented products, for example an encounter with my Benefit Hoola Bronzer resulted in a very heavy contour for me... they give a lovely airbrushed finish, and I plan on keeping these for special occasions and when I want to make a massive effort with my make-up, as I don't want them to get a bit tatty, but I'm looking forward to creating some new exciting looks for you all with them!

Beauty Boxes - Worth it?

Sorry this is a day late!! My phone broke and wouldn't turn on meaning no alarm, which meant that I had 15 minutes to get ready yesterday morning, and I didn't get the chance to get it up before I went out for the day!!

Since I've been blogging, beauty boxes have been a monthly staple in my posts, with Glossybox from the start, and Birchbox accompanying them for the last few months. I've recently reorganised my make up collection, and realised how much product I actually have, amongst baskets and baskets of skin care, and bath pieces, and samples upon samples upon samples of numerous other bits. It was upon this discovery that I made the decision to terminate my subscription to both my beloved Glossybox and Birchbox.

Both boxes are £10 each a month and then an additional £2.95 for delivery.

I've had Glossybox since last June, and I've always loved the excitement of that little pink box arriving! Glossybox have always been the ones for me that help introduce me to new exciting brands, as well as the traditional well loved ones! One annoying thing about them, is that they are extremely fond of Nail Varnishes, and those tiny Perfume samples :( Apart from that, I've only ever had one problem with them which is when they sent me a blusher which broke, and another item which wasn't in my box, but they were really good with it, and instantly sent out replacements and even a few extra bits thrown in to apologise! One of the things I love the most about Glossybox is the themes every other month, and the gorgeous box designs! I have told myself that I'm allowed the occasional box if it's a very good one!

I decided to grab this one, as I had a discount voucher for my first box, and then thought, I'll keep it going until I get a bit fed up. Birchbox for me, brings out more of the well known and loved brands such as Benefit etc, and I also love their reward scheme of money to spend in the shop on the products! I found that Birchbox was working out at having the most value each month, as they are very fond of the high end luxury brands unlike Glossybox who include brands such as Essence etc. The standout thing for me with Birchbox, is the lifestyle extra, I think it is such a cute idea and seperates them from the other beauty boxes out there!

I think that beauty boxes are a brilliant concept, and the fact that both offer a one month rolling contract means that you can just cancel at any point when you are satisfied, and also they both have their reward schemes which means either a free box or money to spend on products! As I said, if I see a box that stands out for me, then I will definitely pick up the occasional one, but for now, I'm going to concentrate on making the most out of all the products I own, and to replace my monthly posts on them, I am going to be putting up looks incorporating some of the products I have gained from them!

October Glossybox

Up to a week later, my Glossybox finally arrived - yaaaay! Last month we actually got a sneak peek and knew that we would be receiving a box design that is inspired by Andy Warhol, and look how amazing it is!

Nuxe Masque Creme Fraicher

I was a bit dissappointed with this, yet another tube of a face mask, I think that Glossybox could be a bit more adventurous with what to put in, but that's probably just because I've been a subsciber for so long!

SO SUSAN Mascara

I was super excited when I saw this, as I love SO Susan and the products, but this was a massive let down for me! The formula is so watery that it smudges when you blink... I think that this one might go to the bottom of the pile for an emergency mascara!

Yves Rocher Fragrance

I think that this is just the cutest! I definitely prefer getting a miniature size bottle rather than those dreadful sample things that you can pick up for free! I suprisingly love this scent, as it's not something that I would normally be attracted to, but I love wearing this and it lasts so long too.

Ciate - Snow Virgin 010

I love Ciate, and I've been on the lookout for a white nail varnish for a while now, so this killed two bones with one glossybox! The only thing that dissappointed me was the lack of 'the bow', Ciate are infamous for the gorgeous design of the bottles, and the cutest  little bow which appears to absent from all the colours received by Glossybox Subscribers this month.

Rimmel - BB Cream

I can safely say that I know that I personally won't be using this, purely because 1 - I have ridiculously pale skin, so I guarantee this won't be right for me, and 2 - I have extremely sensitive skin, so am very wary of new base products, and I know that I've had a reaction to some of Rimmel's other base products in the past, but |I'm sure I will  find a good home for this!

etre belle - Liplift peel

This is something that I have never even heard of, but as I mentioned above, I doubt that I will be using this myself, as I have to be very careful in terms of skincare and wouldn't want to disrupt this, so I will be passing this on to someone that will get a good use out of it!

Overall, I was a bit disappointed with this months box, because initially I wanted a vampy-gothic box, but then when I saw that it was Pop Art, I prepared myself for bright, abstract colours, and I don't feel like this lived up to that! Sorry Glossybox!

October Birchbox

This month's birchbox arrived last week, and I'd already received an email letting me know that the theme this month was Breast Cancer Awareness, so I couldn't wait to get my hands on it and support such an amazing cause.

Pixi Butter Lip Balm - Honey Nectar

I was so excited when I saw this item, as when I'm in London, I always pop into the Carnaby Street store, and always manage to tell myself that I don't need anything, but have always wanted to pick something up. I love the packaging of this, and I think all the products are so gorgeous! The shade I received is my main turn off for this product, as I think its got darker tones in it which don't suit me, but this leaves the lips so soft and nourished that I'll be using this at night when no one can see me!

This is £8 and available here

Shaveworks The Cool Fix

I've never even looked at a product like this, so was interested in what this actually does, it is described as 'a cult formula containing a moisturising medicalm complex that immediately soothes irritated skin', I haven't had a chance to give this a go yet, but I'm really excited to, because I have very sensitive skin so this will help!

This is £11 and is available here

When I read the card for this, I thought it was going to be a texturising mousse or something similar, so I was very suprised to find out that it is a hairspray. You apply this to towel dried hair, and it will hold curls etc in all day, so I'll give this a go and might even do a full review of it.

Its £15,50 and is available here
Birchbox Pink Lipstick Pen

I think this is so cute! It's so handy to just keep on your dressing table incase you need to jot something down etc, and it doesn't look out of place because of the design! This is definitely one of the more useful lifestyle extras Birchbox they have popped in the boxes.

This is £2.50 and is available here
Cattier Pink Clay Mask

When I opened this I initially thought - yet another mask... but then I read about more around it and I actually really like this product, and I love that it's been developed especially for sensitive skin!

This is £4.25 and is available here

I'm so sorry about the pictures in this post guys, my internet at home is broken, so I've had to do this at Uni, and the photo's I've taken are at home on my camera :(

I know what you're thinking - two posts, two hauls! But this is just a round-up of the products that I picked up at the LUSH Cosmetics Christmas launch, I've been able to use most of them now, so I can give my opinion on them all!

Candy Mountain

I've never actually picked this one up, and I'm not entirely sure why... This holds the infamous Snow Fairy scent, which is actually one of my all time favourite of LUSH's, and I love bubble bars too! People get so confused about the different products, with a bubble bar, you can just break a bit off and crumble it under the running water, or I use the easier way, just hold it under running water until you've got the desired effect otherwise you could end up wasting product! This leaves the bath full of bubbles and all pink and girly! The only thing I don't like about the bubble bars is the way I use them means that they always leave a mess on the edge of the bath... sorry Mum!

This is just £2.75

Luxury Lush Pud
I've always seen this traditional one around, but it's never appealed to me because I didn't like the purple base last year, but then I saw the revamp and decided it was time! I wasn't incredibly keen on the scent initially because it's very christmassy and deep whereas I prefer sweeter scents, but I used this the other evening and I absolutely love it! I love the multiple colours that come out, and the lovely pink finisher!

This is £3.50
I love the original butterball, for when you're feeling a bit poop, and just want a nice relaxing bath, and the christmas version is just the cutest!! I actually think that this is a bit bigger than the butterball, and it's cheaper! Winners all round! This is just filled with cocoa butter so leaves your skin super soft!

Golden Wonder
I was actually recommended this by a fellow Blogger I met at the event, and she actually works for LUSH, so I couldn't not pick this up could I? This leaves the bath an amazing green colour and it's so exciting to watch it all disperse in the water! The only downside for me is the huge amounts of glitter, I was covered just trying to get it out of it's bag, and it's also VERY expensive for just one bath, maybe it could be popped on a Christmas wish list?

Northern Lights
This is actually the only Halloween product that I picked up, and I picked it mainly due to the scent, it's very citrusy and tangy, and that's all I can really say as I haven't used it yet, so this is what LUSH say - 'Escape into relaxation with this bath bomb that gives an impressive display no matter where you are in the world. As the ends fizz away, the middle slowly dissolves to reveal blue and neon green, turning your water into a calming jasmine and ylang ylang-scented swirling night sky scattered with stars'
Snow Fairy
The last thing I picked up was a present for Tom, and it's our all time favourite, Snow Fairy! It smells of Candyfloss and Pear Drops and it's a LUSH Christmas classic, and just speaks for itself really!

So that's what I picked up at LUSH, sorry it's quite lengthy, but I personally love reading blogs that tell you what the products do, cause I rely heavily on Bloggers to help me make the decision whether to buy something or not!

Sakura Event

As I mentioned last time, I was lucky enough to be invited to an event in Bournemouth at Sakura, and it was labelled the 'Kimono's and Cherry Blossom Event', we started off with a small presentation about Japanese Fashion and the inspirations etc, and then we made Origami Dresses, and then made cocktails! Unfortunately, there wasn't a focus on the actual pieces of Hannah the designer's collection, but I really loved this oversized Red Coat, and also a Red dress, but unfortunately I didn't manage to get any pictures of these!

Warning - Very picture heavy

I went for a Matte look, with very neutral lips, and I've managed to cut off my eyes.... but I went for a subtle bronze, and then as you can see, I used a quite strong bronzer to give a healthy glow.

The products I used -
MAC Studio Fix NW10
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer
Rimmel Clear Complexion Powder
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish - Lust
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
Benefit They're Real Mascara
Bellapierre Lipstick - shade worn off :(

I loved what I finally decided to wear, as I rarely wear black, but I think it gave such a nice finish overall!

What I wore -
H&M Black Skater Dress - £12.99
New Look T-Bar Shoes - £17.99

My best friend Katie joined me! And look how amazing she looked too!

What she wore -
Dorothy Perkins Dress
Primark Cardigan, Shoes & Clutch

We also met up with Brogan just before, and you can find her lovely blog here

We made Cherry Blossom's, and they are so yummy! As you can see, I have a major concentration face going on...

We also met the lovely Sarah, and you can find her blog here, thank you all so much for such a fun evening girls!

Here you can see everyone that came along, and our dresses, everyone was so lovely and the evening was just so much fun!

I would like to thank Hannah and the team at Sakura for giving me the opportunity to go, and you can find Hannah and her site here, Also, a big thank you to Phil Maclean for some of the photos!

On Thursday it was the Student lock-in at WestQuay and I obviously took full advantage of this, and the extra student offers and I took a wonder round...

Boux Avenue
I knew that Boux had a couple of bits that I was after because I absolutely love the pyjamas in the bags, and I already have two pairs, but completely fell in love with the new designs this season, and I also wanted some new underwear, they also had a free goodybag if you spent £40, and this combined with Buy One Get One Free PJ's, and a massive sale resulted in a little spend...

Is it okay to put a picture of a bra here?...
Free nightshirt and lolly!

Millie's Cookies
I saw that they had 10% off on their milkshakes, which are incredible, and then I discovered a Buy 6 get 6 free!! I'm sharing some though, so that makes it acceptable, right...

When I was in London last with Tom, we saw these beautiful converse in Topshop, but I manager to persuade myself at the time that I didn't need them, but after all the rain recently, my converse have been getting really dirty, and it comes out as soon as they dry, but it's really annoying so I gave in, and I got 20% off them, they're so nice and I really like the blue lining!

Other Bits
I also got something in H&M but I'm afraid that you can't see that until Thursday's post! I also got given some free Candy Floss - BEST IDEA EVER - and as I mentioned, I just had to pick up a milkshake! Can we all also be impressed that I managed to restrict myself and not pick up any makeup?!

Coming Soon - Sakura Fashion Event

Tonight I've been lucky enough to be invited to a fashion launch in Bournemouth, so in Thursday's post I will show you all what happened, the collection, and what I wore too!

Autumnal Nails

Today's post is a brand new feature on my blog - how scary! I've never really commented on Nail Varnishes etc, as at my previous job I wasn't allowed to have painted nails, so I rarely put the effort in to actually make them presentable, but since having a change of career, I get to enjoy the privilege of having glamorous nails - wooo!

I've recently had a clear out of any old gloopy bottles, and when doing so I rediscovered a few that I thought are perfect for the Autumnal months so thought it appropriate to be my first nails post!

O.P.I - I'm Suzi & I'm a Chocoholic + Number One Nemesis (L - R)

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine - Watermelon

Ciate - Plastic Fantastic & Bon Bon (L - R)

I think all of these shades are perfect for the nice cosy jumpers etc come in as the weather changes, and also the more muted tones that tend to be adapted in the colder months! As I write this I am currently wearing a Wedding Ring Manicure using the two O.P.I Shades, with the Number One Nemesis being the one I want to emphasize!

Urban Decay - Lovechild

Last week I was lucky enough to receive a John Lewis voucher for £10, and I instantly knew that I wanted to put it towards a lip product, as I have quite a few high end bases etc, and I think that a good quality lip is an essential in a collection!

After much deliberation and around 5 different websites looking at different shades and reviews, and the impossible decision of Gloss vs Stick, I finally settled on an Urban Decay Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss in the shade Lovechild.

The packaging for this is in-saaaaane! I absolutely love the rose gold packaging, I think it gives it such a luxurious finish and I love that you can see the exact shade of the gloss in the tube. I think that will look amazing next to my Naked 3 Palette on my dressing table!

I also love the applicator of this gloss, hence the picture ;), I think that this is an improvement on the majority of glosses, as it is a slanted brush which makes application a lot easier and feels more natural. The gloss itself is the perfect consistency, leaving no sticky lips situation, and it also withstands drinking and eating, and there is no residue left on the straw etc!

The one thing I would have to say negative about this product is the smell - most brands now have managed to get the lipsticks and glosses to have somewhat of a Vanillery scent, but this smells like the old school gloss, which is such a massive turn off! It doesn't smell when it is on the lips, but it makes the application much more off putting!

This is £14 and is available in a range of shades.

I hope you've liked today's post, I want to get into doing more mini reviews etc.

Recently, I picked up a few bits from The Body Shop, because I had to get a couple of bits for the giveaway I ran, and I had a voucher meaning I could get myself some bits for free! After reading a lot of mixed reviews, I finally picked up the ALL-IN-ONE BB CREAM.

I'm very on the fence as to whether I like this product or not, I've been using it most mornings, hoping it will improve my opinion...

I don't like the texture of this as you are blending it into the skin, but on the back of my hand I do, and I also find that it doesn't give me any coverage like you would expect from a BB Cream, so instead I have been using this as a primer, as I have noted that this evens out my skin, and also prolongs the coverage of my foundation. Overall, I don't think that I will be repurchasing this product, as I don't think that it actually fulfills its purpose, and it's definitely not good enough to be used as a primer in comparison to others I have such as the POREfessional.

£12 available here

LUSH Christmas

On Thursday I was lucky enough to pop down to my local LUSH store and have a preview of all of the amazing new products for Halloween and Christmas! I know I've named this post 'LUSH Christmas', but that's because I particularly focused on the Christmas bits, but I also had a quick look at the others!

The first thing to catch my eye was definitely the addition of a new Lip Scrub! Definitely one for the Christmas list!

I 'need' a magic wand! Pleaaaaase?

My Favourite Halloween products, might have to grab a couple this week! The pumpkin is my favourite by far!

I was actually recommended this by Brogan, who is a fellow blogger but also works at Lush, and so I picked one up - possible review coming soon.

These were genuinely the prettiest bath product I've ever seen! But I'm not a massive fan of glitter - maybe I could be persuaded...

I gave into temptattion, and picked up 'just a few' bits... trusted Snow Fairy in there too!

Sorry that this has been a very picture heavy post, but as you will most likely know, LUSH products speak for themselves! I love how LUSH have incorporated their previous favourites such as Snow Fairy, Rose Jam etc, and have brought in some very exciting new bits!  As you can see, I picked up quite a bit, so I might pick out just a few and do a small review?
