Christmas Essentials

Christmas is my favourite time of year, I love wrapping presents (although it is always questionable), watching Christmas films, Elf and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas are definitely my favourites. I do have a confession – I havent seen many of the classics – Miracle on 34th Street etc., so thats how I intend on spending the next few days!

Just before Christmas, I seem to be in a manic rush, especially with being at school, however there are some essentials that I cannot live without at this time of the year.

My skin is always an issue during the colder months, so this facial steamer comes in really handy to keep my skin looking fresh, clean and hydrated! I suffer with dry and sensitive skin,  but my skin loves this product, and it is so quick and easy to use, it's perfect for the late nights spent marking!

Christmas jumpers are a staple for the festive period, and I love this one from Marks and Spencer - classy and festive!

This year Im in my new flat with my best friend, and weve loved decorating the place, buying  a new tree and decorations, putting up an unnecessary number of fairy lights, and spending all of our evenings getting cosy with lots of blankets and cushions.

I've taken a huge step back from my blog this year, due to school and being generally hectic, however you can see from this post last year how I like to get festive!

This year on Christmas, I’ll be spending Christmas Eve with my brother and his family, and then early on Christmas day, Tom will come and pick me up and I’ll spend the day with his family! I intend to stay cosy in a Christmas jumper, being full of food, and giving all of my favourite people wonderful preents!

I hope you have a wonderful christmas, and I'll be back in the new year with lots of new content and posts!

Urban Decay Bases

Urban Decay has been one of my favourite brands for a long time now, with multiple eyeshadow palettes in my collection, and my love for the Naked Skin Concealer. Recently I decided to try out some products that were new to me, and chose the Naked Skin Foundation, B6 Complexion Prep Spray and the coveted Eyeshadow Primer Potion. `gag

The Naked Skin Foundation is one that I'd wanted to try for a long time, after my love for the matching concealer, and it didn't disappoint. It creates a flawless base, which is matte yet leaves you with a healthy glow too. The Eyeshadow Primer Potion makes my eyeshadow stand out even more, and gives a greater effect to the pigment, as well as ensuring that it stays in place all day without any creasing. I use the B6 Complexion Prep Spray as a finishing spray, as I did previously with the all-nighter spray, and find it works for a midday refresh of my makeup, and giving my skin the hydration it needs!

Worst Wedding Ever @ Salisbury Playhouse

When another email landed in my inbox from Salisbury Playhouse inviting me along to watch Worst Wedding Ever, it was an instant yes! I'd heard rave reviews of the prodcution, and couldn't wait to go.

Throughout the production, I found myself consistently laughing out loud, as parts are hysterical, and my friend who I went with said that she could definitely draw similarities with the play and her own experience of wedding planning! There is an underlying theme which adds another dimension to the play, and reveals the perceptions that we have of one another, and the reality of a family.

The production itself was simple but effective, with the majority of the play taking place in the back garden of the family home, with minimal changes being made to show the progression of the play. The costumes were perfectly matched to their characters, and the actors themselves were outstanding.

This was one of the best and funniest productions that I have seen, and I've been raving about it and encouraging everyone I know to go and see it since!

Worst Wedding Ever is at Salisbury Playhouse until the 25th of February, make sure you don't miss it!

Diorific - Charm

I've never owned a piece of Dior Makeup, I've always just tended to steer towards Chanel, but I wanted a new high-end lipstick, and I was praying that my local Debenhams would still have some of the Diorific range in stock!

Charm is the perfect matte shade, it's perfect for both everyday wear and for a glam look too, and it's deeper tones set it apart from the standard nude shades that you'd see me wearing everyday. The longevity of this is quite remarkable considering how creamy it feels on the lips, this will last around 4-5 hours, through drinking and eating too, and with such beautiful packaging, I certainly don't mind getting this out of my bag to reapply!

This may be the first Dior piece in my collection, but it certainly won't be the last!

L'Oreal Haul

I recently needed a new foundation, so took a little trip to Boots, with the honest intention of just grabbing a foundation, however when I saw the 3 for 2, I knew that I could do with a new undereye concealer, and the highlight looked so interesting that I caved... oops!

Now we all know that I struggle with foundation shades, however True Match in 1.C Rose Ivory tends to be the closest I can get, I much prefer the new design bottle of this one! The one thing I do find is that after a long day it can tend to go a bit patchy if I'm not using a setting spray throughout the day, which is an issue when I've just run out - quick run! The Lumi Magique Concealer is every bloggers dream and worst nightmare, we all love rose gold packaging, but it's impossible to photograph thats for sure. This is is similar in design to YSL Touche Eclat, I personally only use this under the eye as I don't think that it has enough coverage for blemishes, however it's perfect for the under eye as it brightens the area so much! Now I had high hopes for the True Match Highlighter, I like that there are two shade variations for skin tones, I like that there's a mixture of shades in each product, and I even like the hidden surprise of the mirror and brush underneath, but that's where it stops. This doesn't blend, the second it touches your face it sticks, which is horrific when you don't realise until you've left the house and you have a streaky face. It's not a natural highlight at all, there is certainly on 'natural radiance' with this one, and take my advice - do not use the brush it comes with.

Overall, I wasn't overwhelmed by these products, the highlighter won't be used again, but the other two will stay in my collection!

Have you got any new recommendations for drug store products?
