Southampton Bloggers Macmillan Coffee Morning

The Southampton Bloggers hold many events, all organised by the lovely Alice & Amy, they're events are always fabulous and if you're local then definitely check out the twitter page!

Last Sunday they  hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning for us all, it is such a lovely charity to raise money for, and it also gave us all the opportunity for a very relaxed catch up with some of my favourite girls, and meet some new faces!

We all sat round, had cake and a drink, got very hungry and impatient, (the girls have got used to this with me now!) ordered some food and just talked. The generic blogger thing happened, we each picked up a cake, took multiple pictures in different lighting and from different angles before daring to take a bite, but it was lovely to have some time to just integrate with other bloggers!  All in all it was a fabulous day and we managed to raise £70 for a well deserving charity!

After everyone else headed off, myself, Alice, Jess, Mandy & Rachel headed to the sky bar for an afternoon in the sun!
Alice has become the event queen!
Jess cakes looked and tasted amazing, and WOW Cupcakes also provided some treats!

Revlon - First Impressions

I've never used Revlon before, I don't really know why, but I've just never fully looked, but I needed a new foundation and after seeing Colour Stay everywhere, I got swatching, and to my suprise I found the perfect shade! Boots also had a deal on where it was 2 for £15 on all face products - so it would have been rude to not get another thing... right?

I picked up the version for Normal/Dry Skin, and in the shade Ivory. First impressions, packaging is clean, professional and a glass bottle is always a bonus, but they definitely need to introduce a pump, because it is very thick in consistency so when you've woken up late and have approximately 3 minutes to get ready, you don't want to be spending 2 of them shaking the bottle so you can get some product!

The foundation  is medium-full coverage and is buildable, I find it gives a natural but matte finish on the skin, I do find that on some days it can cling to my dry patches, which means that this isn't going to be my daily go to, but for days when my skin isn't especially dry, I will be using this!

The Revlon Highlighting palette in Rose Glow caught my eye very quickly, as it is a complete dupe for the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks. I use this with a swirl of the brush across all shades, and then apply to the apples of the cheeks, this gives a natural glow,  but isn't too shimmery either!

The Artisan Cafe

The Artisan Cafe has been one of my most visited places since I've been at University as it's actually at the bottom of one of the buildings, but it was long overdue an overhaul. It looked very much like a cafeteria, whereas now it is sophisticated, classy, and if you could sum pinterest up in a space, this would be it!

They have a new menu, full of speciality coffees, and a new recipe hot chocolate which is to die for! They were going round offering out tasters of both food and drinks all evening, which me and the girls dived in to, and all of the staff were on hand to answer any questions.

The new decor is gorgeous, with darker lighting giving an intimate atmosphere, new chairs, and music to accompany the theme. I returned this week with a friend and had a hot chocolate and a slice of cake, and it was just as good as opening night!

The cluttered decor look is so interesting!
Speciality coffees were proving very popular amongst guests!
Mini cottage pies in espresso cups? These weren't around for long!
Milk & Cookies?! Delicious and ingenious!

If you're in Southampton then definitely pop in for a drink and a bite to eat, whether that be a meal or just some cake! I'll definitely be going back!

Thank you to the Artisan team for having me!

The Camel Coat

I've been after a new coat for a while, I have a lot, lets be honest, but I wanted a clear out, and have decided to keep 3 and no more, a leather jacket, a practical but still nice, and then a smarter option. I've had my eye on this one in New Look for around a month now. It's the perfect colour, nice and warm, and the faux fur attachment just finishes it nicely! I was on the fence as to whether I would actually wear it, but now I'm so glad I picked it up!

The Shirt Dress

I attended a drinks party at a hotel in Southampton on Friday, and had a major panic over what to wear, I didn't want to go too overdressed, still wanted to look smart, wanted flats due to a train journey, it was seeming impossible - until I hit the shops that is!
I opted for a khaki shirt dress, which is very different to my normal style, but I actually really liked it, I got a few sizes up so it would be slightly oversized but still nicely fitting, the one thing I will say is that it is a bit short! The shoes were a hidden gem in the h&m sale, they're flat with slingbacks, and a pointed toe, chic and comfortable, and just £7! Teamed with my bag, and gold accessories, I think it all came together, and has definitely made me think again about what I'll be picking up next time I'm browsing the shops!

Classic Monochrome

After much deliberation, I was actually really happy with my outfit that I wore to Bloggers Festival, I went for a monochrome look that would look good enough for the day and evening spent in London. I've found that this skirt instantly becomes the statement piece, so by keeping it simple with the top, it doesn't make the outfit too busy, and then adding a decorative scarf ensures that it isn't too plain, but sticks with the classic look!

Bloggers Festival - The Goody Bags

As you saw in Wednesday's post, I attended Scarlett London Bloggers Festival on Saturday, and as I mentioned, every brand was so incredibly generous, and I thought I'd feature some of them! There are plenty more bits that I received, but I would be here all day if I listed each one!
Jewellery Box hit us all in our pinterest soft spots with the cutest little boxes filled with gorgeous jewellery! Small Man Media provided us with fun but useful stationery, The Perfume Shop gave us the cutest minature of Paco Robanne's latest scent, whilst Bravura gave everyone the chance to win a flannel!
A competition with Bon Prix left me with some winter essentials, as well as a hat that you'll be seeing soon! Where Browhaus made sure that my brows were left on fleek - that's what it's called, right?!
Ogx had some goodies in the bags from Scarlett, and after one use I'm converted! Whilst chatting away, Mode Media gave us some bits that were perfect to jot down all of their amazing advice!
A neck & shoulder massage cream? Scarlett, we thank you! Balance gave us all some serum, moisturiser and some hair oils too, and Exuviance had a chat with each and everyone of us and then gave us some products based on our skin!
Phew!! This could definitely have been 2/3 posts, but I'm sure you'll be seeing lots of these pieces and all the others in reviews soon!
I would just like to say a huge thank you to each and every brand who contributed, it was so lovely to chat to you all, and get the chance to try out your products!

Bloggers Festival

On Saturday I jumped on a train to London to attend Scarlett London's Bloggers Festival. Scarlett has become somewhat of a queen of blogger event hosting, and I was super excited when the invitation landed in my inbox! I spent the morning with the girls, and greeting more at the Conrad St James' Hotel where it was held, we headed in.

There was so much happening, with photo opportunities with Mode Media, and then entering into an Enchanted Forest created by Jewellery Box, the room was full of brands and opportunities to learn more about their products, get your hands on some, and win prizes too- I managed to win a lovely hat and winter essentials from Bonprix! Lots of the brands were incredibly generous and gave us all amazing goodybags full to the brim of bits to try! There was the opportunity to get your eyebrows done, get a glitter tattoo, and dive into the pots of pic 'n' mix! Mode Media were also on hand to offer advice about connecting with brands.

I'd never met with any of the brands in attendance, with just some to name being Jewellery Box, The Perfume Shop, Nanshy, Bonprix, Browhaus, Small Man Media, Exuviance and more. It was an amazing opportunity to make new connections with brands, and give yourself the contacts for future collaborations.

We were sent away with so many goodies that they have earned themselves a post which is coming on Saturday!

I didn't take many photographs because I was having too much fun, but you can see some of what happened!

A huge thank you to the lovely Scarlett for hosting such a good event!

Did you attend?

Blogging Life

When I started blogging last January, I never thought it would lead to anything, I couldn't imagine myself working with brands, attending events and let alone making friends. Over a year and a half later and I've met some of the most amazing girls who I attend events with, and meet brands with too!

Below are some of the loveliest people I could ever wish to meet, and I've met them all through the Southampton Bloggers, they're all fabulous and so welcoming! There's the ones I speak to daily, and the ones I frequently tweet and see at events. If you're a blogger and feel a bit alone, find your local network, because there will be one, and there will be people just like you, and after all, there's nothing better than having so many people in your life with so many things in common with!

There are a lot of girls here, so head over to sotonbloggers on twitter and you'll find them all!

The Ideal Eye

Following my The Perfect Base post, I've been thinking of my other favourite products, and I realised that there's a few products I have been reaching for nearly every day to create my eye look! Urban Decay Perversion works amazingly with a smoky eye, because the volume it achieves is incredible, it holds a curl, gives length, and is just an all round mascara
Charlotte Tilbury have created the dreamiest of all palette's with the Golden Goddess, Dolce Vita tends to be the most spoken about, but I think that the Golden Goddess is overlooked for no valid reason! I think this palette is perfect for creating a daytime look, but also for transforming it for the evening! To finish off the eyelook I've been using the Lord & Berry Kohl Liner and smudging this out with an eyeliner brush to create a flick!

What are your favourite eye products?

August Empties

I've never done an empties post in the past, but I use a lot of products, so today is the first of what I hope to be many, monthly favourites! This month has been solely using up lots of beauty products, I haven't come to the end of any body products.

I've spoken about this before, but I love this foundation, it's a super buildable coverage, a wide range of shades, good packaging and an affordable price! I would definitely repurchase this, I normally wait until there's an offer on though, and pick up a few other bits!
It's been the UK's number one selling primer for the last 3 years, and I can definitely see why! I've been through countless sample sizes, and finally managed to finish this tube, This primer evens out the skin, gives some form of coverage, and provides the perfect base for the rest  of your makeup!
I brought this ages ago, but I find that sometimes it works wonders with my skin, and other times it clings to all my dry areas and just doesn't work! But when it works, it works. The coverage again is  buildable, it leaves the skin looking natural and I find that I don't need to powder when using it, Again, this will be one I will repurchase, because I know how it works for me, and the fact that I can't use it everyday just means it lasts a lot longer!

Again, a bestseller, this gives volume, curl and length, and if you work with it you can get the appearance of false lashes, hence the name! This product speaks for itself really, and if you haven;t heard of it or tried it yet, where have you been?!
I picked this up on a whim in boots, not expecting much from a £4.49 concealer, and to say I was pleasantly suprised is an understatement. This is the perfect shade for my pale skin, it brightens the undereye, and has a good enough coverage to cover any blemishes, this is definitely a wonder product!

Have you used up any products this month? Let me know if you have any recommendations!
