LUSH Southampton Summer Event

Thursday evening, I headed back to Southampton, grabbed some cake with some of the other Southampton Bloggers, and then we headed to LUSH for their Summer 2015 event! It was to celebrate some of the most popular Oxford Street store exclusive products being sent out to the other shops - finally!!

We were greeted with The Layer Cake Bar which was inspired by the Layer Cake Soap, my apologies to everyone I made repeatedly smell this, but I LOVE it! We were then given an introduction to everyone, and then we did the standard blogger in lush thing, we all went and took pictures of everything in sight from 6 different angles- that's normal, right?

We were given the opportunity to see demo's of lots of different products, I had a hand scrub and mask, and got to test the Golden Handshake, I was amazed by how much product you get when melting it down, and especially about how soft my hand was after!

The Experimenter is one of the most lusted after product I'd say, it gives you that instagram perfect shot, it smells amazing, and it even has glitter! I'd say that it is by far one of my new favourite items, and even though some aren't a fan because of the colour it leaves the water, I personally don't mind it!

My favourite part of the evening was getting to make our very own Creamy Candy Bubble Bar! I think this was one of my very first LUSH purchases, and it still remains one of my favourites, some people got creative with shapes etc, but I decided to stick to the traditional bar form!

I also found out about The Godmother for the first time, and it's on it's way out! I managed to grab a piece of the last slab. The scent is the adored Snow Fairy which is mainly a christmas exclusive but you can occasionally find the scent in other products! Candyfloss and Pear Drops?! Yes please!

I had such a lovely evening with some of my favourite girls, and then meeting lots of new ones too! The lovely ladies who work at Lush Southampton even sent us all away with a bag of goodies to try out, which is amazingly generous of them all! I'm sure you'll be seeing these appearing in reviews etc soon!

A huge thank you to the staff at Lush for holding the event and having me! No doubt I'll see you again when I'm running low on supplies, or if I just happen to be walking past.....

TOAD Diaries

I recently heard about TOAD Diaries, and couldn't wait to get my hands on one, all of their designs are absolutely gorgeous, and the fact that you can customise your own just makes it more special. I've been looking to pick a diary up for purely blogging for ages now as I like to try and seperate my blogging and uni worlds apart to save confusion, and TOAD provided the perfect solution!

I went for an A4 Wirobound option, in the design ITH Birds, it is such a lovely pattern, and the colour is perfect, it brings the idea of calmness to me! The diary isnt as bright as the picture, but I actually prefer the colour! For customising I opted for my name and blog address, you also have the option of two lines on the back, but I didn't require these so left them clear! It also has a clear protective cover to keep your design safe!

I also chose for it to be a 24 month diary, starting immediately, I love the concept that you can choose the length and the starting month, it means you can get exactly the diary you need! The different sizes appealed for me, but I went for the biggest so I can put more information in and I know it won't be leaving my house anyway!

The inside is also fully customisable to your needs, with the option for day to page, week to page -with accompanying grid, plain or lined paper opposite, & week to two page, I went for week to two page, as this leaves me plenty of room for each day and I prefer that than a page a day!

The website itself is really easy to navigate, and gives you the preview option to see every aspect of the diary! TOAD also include a seethrough holder which can be slid in to keep hold of any loose bits, a piece of ribbon to make it easier to find your day, and I found this lovely quote by George Eliot in the back too!

TOAD also offer Filofax products, Collins products, travel diaries, journals and more!

*PR sample but all views and opinions are my own!

Will you be checking them out?

The Perfect Base

I am a strong believer that your entire makeup depends on the reliability and perfecting of the base! After months and months of searching, I have finally found my favourite products that as long as they're on, I know I look relatively decent... I hope!

L'Oreal Infallible Primer | This is a strange one for me, I have only seen the effects of this when using it with the accompanying foundation, with other products I don't find it makes a difference, whereas when used in conjunction with the foundation, I find it gives an even base, and allows the foundation to glide onto the skin, and although it claims to have mattifying properties, I find this is only the case in terms of any oily areas, and you still get a dewy healthy glow.

L'Oreal Infallible 24H Foundation | The matte version of this has been given so much credit, but I feel like this one has been lost in all the hype! It provides a light - medium coverage, but builds to a full coverage. Blends with fingers, sponge and brush, doesn't oxidise on the skin, and doesn't move around the face either!

Hoola Bronzer | It's the UK's best selling bronzer, and if you've used it, you'll know why, it's warm enough to give a healthy glow, but also cool toned enough to work as a contour, blends really well, buildable, and if you're travelling light, I love using this and building the colour up to create a smoky eye!

Watts Up Highlighter | It was love at first swatch with this one, a champagne glow, a blender included, and gorgeous packaging?! Benefit have definitely hit the spot with this one. It's one that will work for anyone, I use this on the tops of my cheekbones, under my brow arch, a tiny bit on the end of my nose (it lifts it!) and also on my cupids bow! You need this one, don't believe me? Head to your nearest counter and swatch away!

Have you achieved your perfect base yet? Let me know in the comments!!

ASOS Wishlist

ASOS is the best online shopping destination, right? I am trying to resist  the temptation to shop, but it seems to be a losing battle, there are so many pieces that I want! I think it's the combination of their own brand items, and nearly every other brand you can think of, they even did Primark for a bried period. With a huge beauty section, and sales to end all sales, ASOS is definitely an online shopping addicts best friend.

The Forgotten Five

There's a few bits in my makeup collection that I don't use, whether they're still new, or whether I've just forgotten about them, and after a recent clear out I made a promise to myself to start using them more, and they definitely deserve more use!

The two palettes are Elizabeth Arden, one is for creating a daytime look, and the other evening, I cannot remember which is which as they're not labelled, but I would personally use the bottom one for an evening look! The shadows are really pigmented, and blend really well, but also have a good lasting power! With the blushers and highlighters, I prefer to blend the two together to get the right shade for my skin!

The Lord & Berry Eyeliner is something that must have just got hidden underneath other products, as when I first had this I loved it. It's more of a charcoal grey shade rather than a pure black which I actually prefer with a pencil eyeliner as it looks more subtle, especially for those of us who don't suit very heavy eye looks. I use this in the centre of the lashline, and then spread the product and create a wing with an eyeliner brush, this works really well as it blends amazingly without smudging, and I also find this method ensures that it lasts the longest without giving you the panda eyes look that no one can ever pull off!

This mascara has been gathering dust, and for no just reason, it is a very different brush than I normally prefer, but it gives the lashes lots of volume! It is again an Elizabeth Arden product - I didn't mean to forget them all! The packaging is gorgeous, and even though I do prefer to go over this mascara with a lengthening one, there is no denying its voluminous qualities!

This lipstick is barely touched, and again, I have no reason, it is a pink toned berry shade, which is very universal, it isn't too dark for the lighter skin tones, and is bright enough to really compliment the darker skin tones too!

I am determined to get more use out of these products as they are all lovely, and could definitely slot into my daily routine! Do you have any hidden gems in your stash? I challenge you to try and use them!

Clinique - Face Forward

Recently, myself and a handful of other Southampton Bloggers headed to Boots in Southampton, specifically for Clinique for their Face Foward Campaign event! Hana greeted us with Champagne and cupcakes, she definitely knew how to impress a blogger!

The campaign is based around setting yourself goals for the future, and how you are going to achieve them, aswell as this, we all got to have a good look at Clinique's most popular products, and have every possible question we could have answered!

A few of my favourite products were their Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm - the texture was amazing, the packaging is gorgeous, it works amazingly, and is super affordable at £22; what else do you want?! I also really liked their Smart Custom Serum which felt amazing, and I have a sample to use up too, but starting at £48 for 30ml, it is definitely an indulgent product for me! When we finished up we headed to the counter, where I fell head over heels for the Poppy Pop Lipstick, it is definitely not my normal nude shade, but next time there is a bonus time on, I will be running back to pick up the balm and the lipstick....

Hana gave us a little box of goodies which had a few products to try out, and I've been using them and really liking them so can definitely see a purchase coming soon!
Specialised skin consultations
Face Forward
As I mentioned, the campaign is all about personal goals, so I thought I would set myself two -

1) Be more confident in yourself. - Don't be held back by a lack of confidence!
2) Say yes. - Saying yes more often will open more doors and will be an experience either good or bad, but you'll learn from both!

I would like to say a huge thank you to Hana for inviting me, and I cannot wait to return and have my skin consultation and pick up a few bits!

Lip Liners - Love or Hate?

The recent lip liner craze has come from the controversy surrounding Kylie Jenner, and the days of the 90's brown liner have gone, and now the liner is used to give the appearance of fuller lips!

I must admit, it took me a long time to jump on the bandwagon, and I certainly do not use them to create a fuller lip, but I instead find that it gives a good base to a lipstick and prolongs the wear by hours! A few of my favourites, are MAC, Lord & Berry and Kiko!

For now, Lip Liners are staying in my stash, are you a fan?

The Body Shop - Spa at Home

On Thursday myself and some other bloggers headed to The Body Shop in West Quay shopping centre for an evening of browsing and pampering!

fruity drinks to be greeted with!

The event was to celebrate the launch of their new Spa at Home range, with Three collections within the range, there is definitely something for everyone, I couldn't choose between them, and favoured one item from each!

We were introduced to all of the products by the staff who were on hand with everything you could possibly need to know, one of my favourite pieces were the new oils, as they contain Almond so are also for use on your hair!

We were treated to a hand and arm massage using all of the new products, and there was also a facial and nail station too! The new refurb the store has recently had means it looks amazing and you can try a range of products before purchasing!

L- R, Lexie, Rachel, Ami, Alice, me, Jess & Mandy!

A huge thank you to The Body Shop for having us, and I'll definitely be popping back in to pick up some pieces!

Picnic in the Park

Well strictly it was pizza, and in a cathedral's grounds not a park, but on Tuesday I had a catch up with one of my best friends Katie and we made a detour via Pizza hut!

Salisbury Cathedral is one of my favourite places, and I live so close to it! The little cafe they've opened is also so nice, and very convenient! If you haven't been then I would 10000% recommend it!
